Enjoy Kohama Island with a landing on the island of phantom (Hamashima).
Experience Diving & Snorkeling Tour

This is a special plan that allows you to experience one diving point (about 40 minutes) and one snorkeling point (about 1 hour) from/to Kohama Island.

Phantom Island (official name: Hamashima) is a small sandy island in an emerald green sea. The shallow sea is spectacular, and the white sandy beach looks beautiful no matter where you take a 360-degree photo!

Shihsi Lagoon

The location for experience diving and snorkeling is a special area called "Seokseo Jagoho," which is the only place in Japan where diving and snorkeling take place.

It is also included in the marine area of Iriomote Ishigaki National Park, so it is an area with a rich ecosystem as well as spectacular views.

We are currently offering one-day tours in the morning and afternoon, so we will be open from 8:40 to 11:40 a.m. and from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Lunch will be served at the port of Kohama Island.

Wet clothes or swimsuit (wear beforehand), towel, change of clothes, sandals or footwear that can get wet, jacket (e.g., windbreaker that can be woven if it is cold), sunscreen protection, camera (the guide may take pictures of the guests).

After disembarking from the ferry, move to the right (north) side of the Obama Port Terminal in front of the quay. If staff members are not at the same location, please wait in the terminal until the meeting time.

How to get there 》

*If you are coming to Kohama Port from a hotel on Kohama Island, you may be asked to meet the hotel's free shuttle bus.(We will call you around the evening of the day before to confirm your reservation. We will give you more details at that time.)

*If you are coming from Ishigaki Island, please take the ferry to Kohama Island.

*Please note that the tour may be cancelled or the point changed due to changes in weather or sea conditions on the day of the tour or during the tour in order to ensure the safety of our guests.

*No one is allowed to enter the ocean while under the influence of alcohol, intoxicated, or in poor health. Also, if swimming, it is prohibited to bring alcoholic beverages on the tour.

*Boarding of airplanes is not allowed after diving. Please be aware of this.

Q. Is there a place to change on the day?

The ship's restrooms are used in conjunction with the changing rooms, so you can change your clothes.

Ship facilities include simple showers (water), toilets, and changing rooms (also used as restrooms) so that you can change and disembark when you disembark.

Q. What is the difference between the two?How do I get to Obama Port?

Kohama Port can be reached in about 30 minutes by ferry departing from Ishigaki Port Remote Islands Terminal.

Q. What is the difference between the two?Is the meeting place easy to find?

After disembarking from the ferry, this is in front of the quay, which has moved to the right (north side) when looking at the Obama Port Terminal.

Q. What is the difference between the two?Can I snorkel even if I am not a good swimmer?

Our snorkel point is very close to where we stopped the boat, so you can see fish and coral without having to leave the boat.

We will also teach you how to properly put on the three-piece set (mask, snorkel, and fins), and the key points to remember when snorkeling, all within feet of each other, so please come and join us.Even those who are not good swimmers can enjoy snorkeling because life jackets ensure safe buoyancy.

Q. What is the difference between the two?Do I have to wear a life jacket?

For safety reasons, all guests are required to wear life jackets (life vests) or wetsuits.
Even those who can swim may suddenly have a seizure, and we believe it is necessary to ensure their safety.

We also provide life jackets for infants, so you can enjoy playing in the ocean with your small children without anxiety. With life jackets to ensure buoyancy, enjoy snorkeling safely and securely.

Q. What is the difference between the two?Are there toilets on the ship?

Each boat is equipped with a toilet. The toilet is used differently than usual, using seawater for flushing and all dumping is done underwater, so toilet paper should be thrown in the trash. (Detailed instructions on how to use these toilets will be provided at the time of your tour.)

Q. What is the difference between the two?I have poor eyesight. Do you have rental masks with glasses?

We also rent masks (one size only) with prescription (limited to those with less than 0.1 vision).

Snorkeling with a mask while wearing contact lenses is also possible. *We are not responsible for lost contact lenses.

Q. What is the difference between the two?Do you have rental items for children?

Masks, fins (21 cm or taller), life jackets (from about 100 cm in height), and wetsuits for children are also available for rent.
Floating boats are also available for infants only. (Please consult with us in the remarks column of the reservation form.)

Wetsuits are available for a fee (@2,000 yen) from June 1 to October 31.

Q. Can I participate during pregnancy?

Pregnant women are not permitted to attend. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I would definitely recommend this plan to anyone visiting Kohama Island! The landing on the Phantom Island was amazing, but for me personally, the experience diving was the highlight of the trip. It was my first time diving, but I can understand why people get addicted to diving. It was a good opportunity for me to see the topography of the sea.
