Phantom Island (Hamashima)

Phantom Island is a small crescent-shaped uninhabited island located between Ishigaki and Iriomote Islands. TideIt is called "Phantom Island" because it only appears when the tide is receding, and at high tide the entire island completely sinks into the sea and disappears.

The cruise was comfortable even for someone like me who is not very good on boats. The scenery on Hamashima Island was so picturesque that I ended up taking lots of photos, and I was amazed at how fine the sand was.

The "Phantom Island" cruising tour, which takes about 10 minutes from Kohama Island, was great with no age limit & no getting wet! Cruising to the Island of Illusion was the highlight of our family vacation.
